In Focus: Sex and the City - The Complete Series [Collector's Giftset]

Sex and the City - The Complete Series [Collector's Giftset] is an absolute must-have for any serious Sex and the City collector. However, with an initial price of $200 in Amazon (outside Amazon, it's $300), I couldn't afford it. I still couldn't shell out such a price (even though it's on a greater discount now at around $120+) until today, so I opted to buy this second-hand set that I saw at PinoyDVD. It costs me PhP1500, so it was such a bargain. 'Cause it was practically a steal, I really didn't expect a mint (or almost mint) copy. Medyo lukot na ang front cover, the DVDs have scratches on them (grrr!), at hindi na maayos ang spring at notebook na nakakabit. (I guess, it is a major flaw of the design. Hindi talaga siya sturdy.) Aside from that, wala na rin ang back leaflet. Nevertheless, keri pa rin. At least I have one. For collection purposes lang.

Someday, I'd buy a brand-new set. (Lalo na kapag super sale na siya!) OR, if a new collector's gift set will come out, I'd get one! In the meantime, this will do.










The bonus disc (not available in the separate season-DVD discs) has some games in it and extra features like guides to the locations, quotes, and guests.

The reason why I wasn't so hang-up about this worn-out copy was because I already have the entire series on separate DVD season.s They are in R1. The first two seasons I got on DVD were Seasons 2 and 3 which I bought from Megamixx store in Megamall. The store used to sell imported CD singles (where I purchased some Madonna singles) and imported DVDs. But it ran out of business. (Nalugi 'ata sila at pinagbawalang magbenta ng mga R1 DVDs -- bawal kasi rito sa 'tin.) I was in heaven when I got my first two seasons. (Hindi pa kasi nagbebenta ng SATC dito n'ung time na 'yun.) It became two of my prized possessions! Sa ngayon nga ay medyo luray-luray na ang cover ng S3. Pinagpasasaan din kasi ni Biboy!

The rest of the seasons were second-hand, as well, but were in mint condition when I bought them. From PinoyDVD members din who are DVD addicts, too, so they really take care of their collection. (Iba 'yung case ng nakuhanan ko ng Collector's Giftset kasi consignment 'yun sa nabilhan ko. Hindi talaga kanya.) Kaya tipid talaga n'ung mabili ko sila.














These are R3 editions. I bought them here, in Astro Plus when they went on sale. I didn't have the R1 S5-S6 then so I got these. FYI: S5 VCDs came out here first than in the US (on DVDs). I also have it, but gave it away to save space in my shelf. Besides mayro'n na naman ako nito.



Siguro, even if I already have the R1 S6, I'd still get this R3 local version. I just love the way it looks! Sa ngayon, di pa ko nate-tempt kumuha ng VCDs ng S6 kahit na gustong-gusto ko rin 'yung cover nila. (The covers they used were the ones used in the SATC DVD Essentials.) May price tag pa 'yan for remembrance. Naging 50% siya bale. (Same with S5.)



By the way, our local copies are pressed from R2 version (Europe), S1-S2. Noong lumabas ang R3 S1, mukha siyang pirata, but it wasn't. Hindi nga lasng kasi talaga kagandahan ang R2 covers at nu'ng i-print na sa 'tin 'yung cover, mas lalong nagmukhang cheap. (See R2 edition here.)

In Focus: Sex and the City: The Movie [The Wedding Collection Ultimate Collector's Edition]

I am a Sex and the City addict! As in, it's my TV bible! So when I learned about The Wedding Collection Ultimate Collector's Edition, I know that I gotta have it! Pre-order kaagad! Di ko mapapatawad ang sarili ko kapag hindi ko na-acquire 'to. I already missed the Steelbook Edition (released exclusively in the US by Best Buy--pink case, and in Canada by Future Shop--black case) just because wala akong makukuhanan.



This limited edition "Wedding Collection" has the extended version of the film and special features that are included in the Two-Disc Special Edition DVD. Bonus features are SJP's video commentary of the film and some behind the scenes on the third disc, and the fourth disc has songs not included in the soundtrack. It has the photobook of the wedding photo shoot sessions, and a certificate of authenticity.

In Focus: The X-Files: The Complete Collector's Edition

I'd start posting my DVD collectibles here. One at a time so each one of them could have their own time under the spotlight. Baka kasi magtampo kapag pinagsabay-sabay ko.

To start with it, I'm presenting you The X-Files: The Complete Collector's Edition. I may not have the cabinet edition, but I got this one! A thing of beauty! (Action figures were bought separately.)

Sabi Ni Angel

Last week, pinakita ko kay Than-than 'yung pic ng crush ko na nanenok ko sa Friendster niya. Agree siya na cute nga at malakas ang dating. Pamangkin o pinsan 'ata siya ng high school batchmate namin. Kasama niya 'yung girlfriend niya sa picture.

Pumasok si Angel sa kwarto at nakita niya 'yung pic sa laptop.

"Sino 'yan?" she asked.

"Ah. . . Kaibigan namin," sagot ni Than-than.

"Sino 'tong kasama niya?"

Ewan ko ba kung bakit hindi pa dineretso ni Than-than ang sagot. Instead of saying na girlfriend n'ung guy 'yung girl, he said, "Kapatid niya." (Sabagay, kaysa naman sabihin niyang "his b*tch," kapatid na lang.)

Angel stopped. Napaisip. "Eh' ba't hindi sila magkamukha?"

Than-than looked at me, trying to get some answers. "Ah. . . " ang mabulol-bulol na sagot niya, "kasi magkaiba sila ng nanay."

Angel once again stopped, confused. "Pwede ba 'yun?"

Sumenyas ako kay Than-than na hindi pa naiintindihan ni Angel ang konseptong iyon. (She's 6.) And, we are not about to start explaining such idea to her. (Not at that moment anyway.)

"Hindi naman pwede 'yun," Angel continues. "Isa lang dapat ang nanay. Hindi pwedeng dalawa. Walang naman gan'un."

"Ah, oo nga. . ." ang tamemeng sagot ni Than-than. "Sorry, sorry."

It's Feb-U-ary!

One of my pet peeves is hearing people pronounce this month. Nakakapanting ng taynga when I hear them say it! Parang gusto mo paulit-ulitin sa kanila hanggang sa dumiretso ang dila nila.

It isn't just because it's MY month, pero naman! Nakakainis talaga. Labingdalawa lang ang buwan kaya pwedeng 'wag naman natin silang murderin?

It's Feb-U-a-ry and not Peb-wa-ry or Feb-roo-a-ry and not Peb-ra-ry!

Katulad din 'yan ng Jen-U-a-ry at hindi Jen-wa-ry!

Kaya pwede ba ayus-ayusin? 28 days nga lang siya, mine-murder pa!

Where Did All the Free Time Go?

Saan na ba napunta lahat ng free time ko during the long holidays at pinugpog ako ngayon ng sangkaterbang trabaho? I am feeling so overwhelmed with the things I need to do from today until the end of the semester. At di sila 'yung tipong pwedeng mong paglaanan a few hours at a time. Lumalamon sila talaga ng matinding oras, parang isang s'yotang demanding at obssesive! Di bale sana kung isa lang kaso madami sila.

I've so many books to read and lessons to plan. I have thought of reading and planning my lessons ahead of time during the holidays pero di ko nagawa. There's also a school play na natanguan kong tulungang i-organize. The problem is, there isn't a workable script at the moment at parang pati 'yun ay poproblemahin ko pa. The play is being set to stage on February at feeling ko hindi kakayanin ang oras, given that it is a musical. Iniisip ko pa lang ang rehearsal time, natataranta na ko. At gusto pang ilabas outside school 'yung play! Umaambisyon talaga! Not to mention my own class play for Philippine Literature on the last week of March. I have to yet adapt a script. Actually, I'm looking forward it 'cause once I have chosen the cast and given them the script, class ko na ang bahala sa rehearsal time nila at preparations. Guide and tweaking na lang ang gagawin ko. However, bago ako makarating d'un, dadaan muna ako sa American literature papuntang Japan papuntang Edsa hanggang sa ngayon. Ilang taon din ang tatahakin ko!

Then there's Rizal at ang gabundok na books na dapat (at gusto) kong basahin tungkol sa kanya. I have taught it a few years back, but I only used two to three references. Ngayon ang dami na. Ginusto ko naman 'yun, eh, kaya paninindigan ko! (Love ko na si Austin Coates! Ganda pala ng biography niya tungkol kay JPR! No wonder idol siya ni idol Ambeth Ocampo.)

May nakalatag pang storyline (at script) na dapat kong simulan at tapusin. Siya ang kumain ng oras ko during the holidays only to discover a much better story. I was relieved that I was able to get out of the original concept dahil not only passe na siya eh talagang matrabaho given that there were other movies made with such concept. Aba! Mahirap dekorasyunan ang isang palasak ng idea kahit pa sabihing interesting siya. Anyway, dahil nga nakaisip ako ng better and more exciting concept (na nagustuhan naman ng producer/director), I had to start from scratch. At wala pa kong nasisimulan, pramis! Di pa talaga ako naupo sa harap ng computer para simulan siyang sulatin kahit synopsis man lang. Kaya good luck sa 'kin talaga! (Thank you to Jerrey and Acy though for the YM brainstorming sessions!)

Apart from those, dami ko pa gustong gawin. I have books to read for leisure. Since I started school last November, wala pa kong natatapos na libro. Nasisimulan ko pero di ko natatapos. (Na-kay Para kay B ako ngayon ni Ricky Lee, Chapter 3 pa lang!) I've new DVDs and downloaded TV series's episodes (I'm on my True Blood season finale though! Yey!) that I haven't seen. There are so many plays that I want to watch. Next week lang may dalawa akong gustong mapanood (Pamaypay, Kutsilyo, at Yantok on Jan. 14-16 in CCP and Cory the Musical on Jan 16-17 in Meralco Theater). Dunno if I could given my schedule. But definitely, another round of Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah on Feb (pang-birthday!)! Di pwedeng palampasin lalo pa't andun na si Cheeno (OK lang sa 'kin kung siya 'yung magiging gift ko!). Yipee! *giggles* Of course, may mga movies pang parating on cinemas. Hay buhey!

Whatever happened to the holidays? Can we just go back to the time when pressures are off? This is so different from what I encountered last year. Yes, I have a job back then pero sobrang luwag ng first three months ko (pwede pang pumalakpak sa loob at gumawa ng star sa rubber band!) only to be surprised with tsugihan factor sa work by last week of March. Eh kapag ganitong nai-stress pa naman ako, mas lalo akong walang nagagawa. I need time to calm myself first before I get to work again. Kaya siguro may dizzying spells ako this week. Parang gustong magkasakit ng katawan ko just so I have a legitimate excuse to slack off. Minsan nga naiisip ko, mas OK kaya if I have a regular job kung sa'n once I go home, hindi na ko susundan ng work? Pero hindi rin! I'd be bored out of my wits. Mas maii-stress naman ako n'un, pramis!

Nevetheless, I know that once this week has passed, magno-normalize na lahat. I can finally plan and schedule a possible timetable for everything needed to be done in the next three months. Saka pauwi rin si Mommy this month. Excited kami!

In the meantime, celebrate muna ng birthday ni Mega bukas sa Araneta!
